ABOUT THE ARTIST
Alexander B. Carter
Neo-Impressionist / Abstract Painter
Alexander B. Carter is a painter from New Orleans. Raised in the French Quarter, he grew up in a family of journalists and editors, with a mother who worked as an interior decorator. Early exposure to storytelling and design shaped his sense of composition and narrative.
At nineteen, he moved to Paris, where he lived and studied for over a decade. The city’s light, architecture, and history left a lasting mark on his visual language.
He later relocated to Istanbul after developing close ties with Turkish artists and designers. He now lives there with his wife and two daughters. The city’s layered history and shifting landscapes continue to inform his work.
Dividing his time between Istanbul, Paris, and mid-coast Maine, Carter’s paintings reflect the dialogue between place, memory, and atmosphere. His work draws from lived experience, translating it into color, structure, and form.
